The George Hotel is a 17th Century townhouse enjoying a wonderful location nestling on the water’s edge between the castle and pier in the bustling harbour town of Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.
This magnificent building is steeped in history and was once home to the most noteworthy of the Island’s Governors, Sir Robert Holmes who often entertained King Charles II.

Today the country house interior with its sweeping staircase, ancient panelling, uneven floors and stone flags is complemented by smart contemporary flourishes.
The 17 bedrooms are individually designed, many with spectacular views of the Solent or the vibrant harbour.

All the staff worked very hard and tried to please in any way they could and the new owner is very 'hands-on'. A gem.
The room was well appointed, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Not to mention the great views over the Solent. Food on all occasions was delicious and served in a highly efficient manner.

The hotel still embraces the charm and welcome of old alongside a beautifully restored interior.
