Meet more than 100 rescued donkeys, mules and Shetland ponies at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary. Set in peaceful countryside near Wroxall, the sanctuary provides a loving forever home and specialist care for animals that have been abandoned, made homeless or can no longer be looked after.
Wander around the sanctuary, meet its friendly residents and discover their individual personalities and stories. Information displayed throughout the site explains how the animals are cared for and offers an interesting insight into the work of the sanctuary’s staff and volunteers.
Visitors can also book a special Donkey Experience for a closer look behind the scenes or adopt a favourite animal to help support its ongoing care.
Entry and parking are free, although donations are greatly appreciated and help the charity continue its important rescue and welfare work. There is also a café overlooking the paddocks, a gift and adoption shop, and Wildlife Meadows where visitors can enjoy a picnic.
The sanctuary is open throughout the year, and well-behaved dogs are welcome.
